Two bits of science
Worth reading:
The Truth Wears Off is an article in the New Yorker on the “decline effect” and the impact it has on statistical significance. Working in the financial services business, I can think of several places and times I have observed this effect. In summary, it states that a lot of research leads to false conclusions because of the way the experiments are designed. And this leads to failure of repeatability. Although the article focuses on biology, one can readily see how this impacts many other areas of study including economics and finance.
Remember This from National Geographic magazine is a 2007 article on memory. I had come across this earlier, but I had a good time re-reading this.
